Landscaping and Presentation of the Archeological Site Medijana, Niš

Mediana, one of the most important archeological sites in Serbia, dates from the 3rd to 5th century AD. The settlement was built as a suburban area of the Roman Naissus (present-day Nis), and its research has been ongoing for more than a hundred years.

Generally, in the years of research, conservation, conservation and presentation projects did not always meet the needs of this extremely important site, so the public generally remained deprived of the ability to visit and adequately view all segments of the site’s archaeological and architectural treasures.

In order to overcome this problem, numerous activities have been initiated through design and presentation projects, in which I have participated in many different ways (design, execution, management, research, promotion and publication).

Project No.1: “THE GATE OF CONSTANTINE’S MEDIANA”, design and constuction of the visitors’ center, 2011.

Project No.2: “BUILDING THE PROTECTIVE SHELTER OVER VILLA WITH THE PERISTYLE”, project management, 2013-2015.

Project No.3: “PRESENTATION OF THE STIBADIUM”, design, 2014.

Project No.4: “INTERIOR DESIGN AND PRESENTATION OF VILLA WITH THE PERISTYLE”, design, 2014.

In addition to these projects, intensive work was also done on the promotion and presentation of the archaeological site and current projects.

For the first time in the history of this site, all the mosaics of Mediana, which made it famous in the world and in our country, were made available to the public.

Beside participation in international conferences and published papers, numerous lectures were held, and the exhibition “Naissus and Mediana” toured Serbia and the region and attracted great public attention.
